The mental health field is overwhelmingly White. This group for Black Baltimore teens hopes to change that

Although mental health is an important thing for people to look after, there are still a lot of barriers for marginalized populations in obtaining professional help. 

This article showcases the experiences of youth in Healing Youth Alliance (a new mental health advocacy organization that aims to help Black youth better understand the intersections of mental health issues & racism and teaches them ways to develop strategies to help their communities). 

While much more work needs to be done to make mental health services more accessible for marginalized populations, as well as diversify the field of mental health, the work of Healing Youth Alliance is a promising start.
