The effects of the opioid epidemic have been devastating to communities across the country. This webinar will address considerations for mentoring programs serving youth and families impacted by opioid and substance misuse. Presenters will discuss the effects of the opioid epidemic on communities from a trauma informed lens and the role of mentoring, provide a clinical overview of supporting youth who have or are at risk of developing a substance use disorder including discussion of risk and protective factors, and share hands-on mentoring strategies and insights that mentoring practitioners can utilize to better support youth mentees in their programs who are impacted by opioids.
This webinar is part of the Collaborative Mentoring Webinar Series, which is funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention through the National Mentoring Resource Center and facilitated in partnership with MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership. These webinars would not be possible without the planning team, which includes MENTOR Illinois, MENTOR Independence Region, Indiana Mentoring Partnership, MENTOR Colorado, MENTOR Vermont, and MENTOR Washington.
