Guiding Parents and Caregivers: New Resource By the National Mentoring Resource Center
Just in, is a new and freely available resource for parents and caregivers on maximizing the benefits of mentoring for their child.
The resource provides “tips and pointers to help you decide whether a mentor is right for your young person and, if so, what kind of mentor and mentoring program might best suit their needs.” It focuses on helping parents and caregivers approach and understand formal mentoring programs, rather than natural or informal mentoring relationships.
The resource guide highlights ways parents and caregivers can think about starting a mentoring relationship for their young person (i.e., what are the factors to consider?), how to find mentoring programs (i.e., where do I go?), strategies to support mentoring relationships, celebrating the relationship, and ending the relationship effectively.
